AGI, or artificial general intelligence, refers to a hypothetical AI system that can match or exceed human ability across essentially any intellectual task, not just narrow, specialized ones. No system today meets this bar, and experts disagree sharply on when, or whether, one will.

الذكاء الاصطناعي العام (AGI) يشير إلى نظام ذكاء اصطناعي افتراضي يمكنه مضاهاة القدرة البشرية أو تجاوزها في أي مهمة فكرية تقريباً، لا في مهام ضيّقة ومتخصصة فقط. لا يفي أي نظام حالي بهذا المعيار، ويختلف الخبراء بشدة حول متى، أو ما إذا كان، سيتحقق ذلك.
الذكاء الاصطناعي العام تسميةٌ لنظامٍ افتراضي يضاهي الكفاءة البشرية في أي مهمةٍ ذهنيةٍ تقريباً، بدل أن يتفوق في نطاقٍ ضيق. وليس له تعريفٌ ولا اختبارٌ متفقٌ عليه، وهذا بالضبط ما يجعل الادعاءات بقرب وصوله غير قابلةٍ للتكذيب، وما يجعل المصطلح أشد نفعاً في جمع التمويل والجدل السياساتي منه في الهندسة.
