SpaceXAI Launches Grok Bot, Its Multi-Agent AI Coworker

Grok Bot doesn't just answer questions. It signs into your apps, works through multi-step tasks on its own, and can spin up other bots to help it finish the job.

SpaceXAI unveiled the agent service alongside Grok 4.6, the 1.5-trillion-parameter model that powers it, on August 12, 2026. The bot itself entered early beta a day earlier, on August 11.

The pitch is straightforward: rather than a chat assistant that waits for the next prompt, Grok Bot is meant to act as an independent "AI teammate" that carries out assigned work across tools and websites, then remembers the workflow for next time. Multiple bots can run in parallel, with one instance able to delegate specialized subtasks to others and coordinate through group chats, similar to how a human team might split up a project.

SpaceXAI says the system isn't purely experimental. It grew out of an internal prototype the company has already been running for sales outreach, marketing, office operations, and even bug fixes, before being packaged into a product.

What's under the hood

Grok 4.6 was trained specifically for agentic work: knowledge tasks, general coding, and more specialized environments like kernel optimization, web development, and computer-aided design. SpaceXAI also added supplemental training on curated, model-generated data aimed at reasoning and technical depth, paired with a refined optimizer and training recipe.

On the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, Grok 4.6 scored 61, putting it roughly on par with GPT-5.6 Sol Max but behind Claude Opus and Fable. That positions it as a solid, if not category-leading, reasoning model, with SpaceXAI betting that agentic reliability over long-running tasks, not raw benchmark scores, is what will differentiate Grok Bot in practice.

Who can use it now

Access is limited for now. Grok Bot is available on desktop and iOS to SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra, and Cursor Teams Premium subscribers, with enterprise customers able to join a waitlist.

That tiered rollout suggests SpaceXAI is treating this as a controlled beta rather than a mass-market release, likely to gather feedback on how reliably bots handle real workplace tasks before opening access more broadly. Whether Grok Bot can consistently execute multi-step work without human correction, the central promise of any autonomous agent, will be the real test as beta users start putting it to work.
