Saudi Arabia's HUMAIN is deepening its work with Microsoft, with the next phase of the partnership set to be revealed at LEAP26. Tareq Amin, who leads HUMAIN, disclosed the collaboration in a post on X, pointing to two specific areas of focus: ALLAM and Full Duplex Engagement, or FDE.

ALLAM is HUMAIN's Arabic-centric large language model initiative, built to serve the language and cultural context of the Arabic-speaking world more precisely than general-purpose models trained primarily on English data. Pairing it with Microsoft's infrastructure and platform reach suggests an effort to scale Arabic-language AI capability well beyond a regional research project.

FDE, or Full Duplex Engagement, points toward real-time, two-way voice and conversational interaction, the kind of system that can listen and respond simultaneously rather than in the stilted turn-taking common to many voice assistants today.
